Can i ride on an Airplane alone to Michigan.?

Im 14 years old and Im turning 15 in September. Well, I live in California near LA and I really want to go meet my Aunts, Uncles and Cousins from my mom sides of the family. I have never meet them, just seen photographs. So, Can i ride alone? and What type of things can i not take on the plane? I know the obvious like knives and sharp objects, but can i take like Electronics, ipod, PSP. And also can i take my hair straightner and blow dryer in my suit case. Sorry, if these are kind of dumb questions but i have never actually rode a plane, the last time was when i was four years old with my dad but his not here right now. Thanks also please mention other things i should know.
