If somebody would broke into your home and held a knife to your wife, would you hesitate to kill them,?

Yes - what use is saving your wife's life and ending up in jail for life. However, I would cause the person great harm if I have the opportunity but my intent would never be to kill. I don't this I would be able to live with taking someone's life.
