Which is the best way to go green; hand washing or dishwasher?

Dishwasher, hands down, as long as it's full when you run it. I have a compact dishwasher, about 2/3 the size of a full size one. I tested it when I first got it. It doesn't even use enough water to fill up one side of my double sink. I'm absolutely certain I use a lot more water than that when I handwash in running water. If I used one sinkfull for washing and one for rinsing, I'd use more water than the dishwasher does. And it's been tested by manufacturers or consumer groups or someone. Dishwashers use less water than handwashing the same amount of dishes.
