Electric water Heater Smells Like It's Burning?

Yesterday while taking a shower, I noticed that I lost my hot water quicker than normal. I didn't really think anything of it, but later in the night realized I still didn't have any hot water. I inspected the rest of the faucets in the apartment, and no hot water to be found. I called maintenance this morning, and they came out and fixed it. They didn't tell me exactly what they did, but said that I should have hot water again in about half an hour. I went upstairs, and about 20 minutes after they left I began to smell something burning. I came down, and sure enough it was coming from the water heater, but I couldn't see any smoke and nothing felt hot-- just smelled like burning. I flipped the breaker switch to the heater and called maintenance back. They returned, said they couldn't find anything wrong, but changed the thermostat as it was the only thing they thought could be causing it. They left (leaving the 2 cover plates off for reasons i dont know, just said "don't put your fingers in there"), and now its about an hour and a half later, and I can still smell the burning. It's no worse than before, and again, no smoke, it just seems like it never went away from before. Should I be concerned about this, or is it just a residual burning smell from whatever caused it earlier in the day? At what point should I worry that I can still smell the burning?

I'm no doctor, I'm only 15 but it could be a physiological thing. Maybe it's all in your head and when you cut yourself there's something going on in your head that causes you to faint. I wouldn't worry about it though. If you are that concerned or curious about why it happens, ask your doctor.

Bipolar is just a label of the symptoms. Not everyone will have all the same symptoms and considering your dad has it.. it seems you probably have something of that sort too. Is pouring hot water on poison ivy rash bad for me?

I got a poison ivy rash and it itches a LOT. I was going nuts till i did what I do sometimes for itching bug bites. I put the affected area under hot water rom the faucet and held it there for a few seconds. Water Heater... how much water need ...?

Few days ago the Gas Company shut OFF the gas line. So we don't have hot water because no gas. They will not turn the gas line for our house until we fix the roof. Roof was damaged due to the tornado. Some body told us we have to drain all water from water heaters (2 Family house), because gas is shut OFF. OK we did this. All water completely was drained out from heaters. Our question is, when we get fixed our roof and Gas Company will turn gas line back ON, how we can know how much water we need put back in the water heaters ? Or we should just open the faucet on the water pipe which is going to the heater and it will be done by its self ? We wouldnt want an overflow of the heater. Please, we need help. Thank's.

Water pouring from faucet and shower head?

When I turn on the faucet the shower head also pours (not leaks) water. This only occurs when I change the handle in certain positions. When I lift the diverter the shower work fine. My well pump keeps turning on and off for no reason, any ideas why?

Perhaps an E collar would work better? I would call your vet and tell them that the tshirt is not working and they can recommend something different. Or you could go to a pet store like petsmart and purchase an E collar for her, they have nice ones, not just the plain plastic ones, that she might not be able to get off. My 5 yr old cat (Baby) has a swollen lymph node on his neck!?

Two of my four cats have cat acne. One of them has a swollen lymph node on the right side of his neck. It is elongated and about the size of a quarter. I know that the most common cause of cat acne is bacteria in plastic water bowls, but they drink out of our bathtub water faucet, so I really don't think that is the cause. Baby's acne has recently turned from blackheads to pimple-like sores, and I have been getting all of the puss out and putting Neosporin on it. The lymph node on the other side is about the size of a pea. He is eating and acting normal, so could it be an infection? Is there anything at the feed store that I can get him (antibiotics) that would clear it up if it is? He stresses horribly when he goes to the vet, and my vet bill is pretty high right now from recent vaccinations (on 7 animals) so I would like to try and clear it up by myself before I take him back to the vet. Your best bet would be not to try and do anything to it because it would cause the warranty to be voided. I am not telling you not to advise the company of you putting vinegar in the machine, however I will say this. Usually anytime you try and do anything to or put anything into an appliance like a washer it will almost always void the warranty since it is something they probably do not recommend. Now, that being said, you will have to decide if you really want to advise them of the vinegar or anything else you might have done to it. As for the pipes, sounds like there are blockages and if so, all the pipes need to be cleaned out and flushed out. If not done you will most likely be calling them back to clean out another one which in turn will cost you a service charge each time they have to come out. It is possible the timer switch or whatever it is referred to now days is bad and not telling the machine to do what it is suppose to. That will have to be done by someone who knows out to test the circuit to see where the problem is.

Ive had depression for 5 and a half months now, and cant deal with this pain anymore. I have been suicidal for 4 months, and im really surprised i havent killed myself yet. If i did i would prob slit my throat, overdose, or jump. Okay so here's my dilemma, i have a wonderful dad who married a completely unpleasant women. Basically it all started when i was in 7th grade and my step mom went snooping through my room and read my diary. Now as what a 12 or 13 year old girl who is upset with her step mom for complaining about turning a light switch on too loud and writes in her diary, " i sometimes wish she would go far far away." that doesnt really seem like an intelligent adult would start a war over that, but mine did. she swore i was out to get her. HIV risk from knife cutting?

Me and my friend were walking by at night and this drunk guy came out of nowhere and cut me in the leg by accident. The cut is minor although there was a tiny bit of blood coming out. I do however believe the knife was dry. The cut is minor enough so that it probably won't cause a scar. I washed it with some soap three times right after. it kinda pisses me off how just because theres no "scientific evidence" that theres immediately no proof, but theres proof everywhere, millions of people got evidence. but they are not of our world, they get as curious and puzzled at times when they realize that we can see them just as we get weirded out. i have had spiritual experiences ever since i was about 4. no one ever believes me when i say this but a bad spirit used to follow me and would whisper stuff in my ears (speakers) only just a couple months ago i got it taken out and also got them damn annoying spirits to leave my room. the more you grow knowledge of their existence the more they come to you, so its not best to get too involved. when i was young i used to hear this whisper in my ear so low it was almost not there but it said my name anytime i was alone but it didnt scare me. they strike at you when you are most vulnerable. years later when i moved out of my childhood farm(haunted place) and so im taking a shower at my dads new place and i hear a woman screaming in my ear, and my ears were ringing after that if you know what i mean, ouch. but at that time i used to have images of evil things (demons, monsters..) and i ended up hearing "hey you there?" i prayed for it to go away it did. years later i wake up one morning and i start "thinking bad" and i hear this demonic deep mans voice behind me, hoping it was my bro, but turned around no one was there. sister used my ipod for the night (and i can not go to sleep without listening to music) so i lay awake for ours and anxiety grew inside and then without me moving i hear a hissing sound. then one night my bro comes over(my sis lived with him for some time and spirits were attacking her to so he brought something with him) our dad is gone and we are alone and creepy sounds start coming from no where and me and my bro make a run for it and come back and slept in my bunk. i dream that im at a store and its pitch black except a spot light on my bro and i fall behind in the darkness and i try to call out his name but im to far away, no sooner later when im eaten up by the darkness i turn mute, felt like someone was suffocating and blocking me from speaking and my body wont move, and i wake up with my eyesight open staring up at the bed boards trying to call out my bros name(the struggling, cant speak, suffocating) but i can only get out barely his name but he cant hear me then i wake up. another night the next week i wake up from a dream and im just staring at my wall and i look at this scarf that had the scariest demonic face and i booked it out the door to my step moms room and i said i had a bad dream so i just lay there trying to get to sleep, i dream that im by this field and this shadow is moving towards me and when i touches me the samesuffocatingg, something blocking me from speaking andparalyzedd event is happening and im trying to call out my step moms name but she cant hear me, then i wake up. but when i wake up i see that the door was open a lil when it wasnt before, then at my moms house im dreaming and the last words where "its concluded its a spirit.." then the stuff begins again, and this time i'm suffocating even worse, i cant breath, then when i wake up my arms are shaking. i had seen a shadow darker than black move when i was "thinking bad" at moms and something threw something small at mycheekss. oh and yes, i forgot to mention that remembering me saying how my sis was having spirit problems, she showed me the claw marks melted into her haunted van's window and claws everywhere. last thing i was ganna say is that one time when everyone in the house was gone it was night time and when i walked across my house a HUGE wave of anxiety flooded over me and i felt the feeling of things staring at me and i was freaking out like hell i flinched at every sound and i locked myself in my dads bathroom until they came home. back then it was scary as hell to be alone here, i swear, i feel like there were many spirits laughing and teasing me those nights i was alone. Does the pain of losing a "fetus" ever ease?

On April 10th I went to the emergency room with severe bleeding. I was 9 weeks pregnant. After two sonograms I was told by the doctor that my baby was ectopic and they believed that it was in my falopian tube. I woke up 4 hours later from surgery (which was only supposed to take 45 minutes) and the back of my right hand where the needle was, was covered in blood. It turned out that the baby wasn't in my tubes after all, it was actually on one of my ovaries. When they lifted my ovary I began to bleed heavily and they had to give me a blood transfusion. Since the baby was on my ovary they had to do a bikini cut to remove it. Everyday I either unintentionally look at or feel that scar and it is like a knife to the heart. Every Saturday (when the week I was pregnant would change), I always think, I would be 17 weeks along now, or I would be 19 weeks now. And it kills me to see babies. It doesn't matter if I see them in real life, or even on TV, it hurts so bad. What makes it worse is that I have a 3 year old who has a genetic disease, he is now a normal little boy, but he had to go through chemotherapy and a blood transplant at Duke University in NC (I live in MI) and for a week we almost lost him. What they did wasn't a cure, but a treatment, so the damage that has been done to his bones and his hearing loss will never go away. Don't get me wrong, I love my son, and I am so greatful that I didn't lose him, but I think that one of my children God gave a horrible disease to, and the other one he took away from me. It hurts so bad, I know that it has only been less than three months, but will the pain of the loss ever ease? I want to get pregnant again, but I'm scared. I don't want to go through that again, and the doctor said that since I have had one ectopic pregnancy I am more likely to have another one. I just don't want it to feel like a knife in the heart every time i think about it.

Water damage to iPod touch 2nd gen?

A few months ago, it slipped bottom edge first into the sink, which was not fillled with water, but there was a thin layer of water because the faucet was running. For awhile, I could see water splotches under the screen. Now, a few months later, I found it and tried to charge it with my wall charger. When I plugged it in, the startup screen was showing for a few hours, and in the morning, the only thing that didn't work was the touch screen and the on/off button. Is there anything I can do to make if functional again? Could Best Buy possibly fix it?

My new cat doesn't like my other pets?

You need to be very patient and do it little by little so that they get used to each other. Stroke them all in turn so they get used to the smell of each other, and if they have blankets then swap them round. Cats are very territorial animals and like to have their own space, whereas dogs will do whatever the cat tells them to! Try speaking with your vet; there is something here called Feliway which is supposed to replace the smell of stress hormones and which does seem to help a bit. I've got two, who are roughly the same age, Oliver who we've had for three years and who adopted us, and Tilly who we got at the end of January when our other cat died who we'd had for years. Tilly and Oliver are just beginning to get along now - they can be in the same room as each other and there's even the occasional kiss on the nose so I'm optimistic. Another thing you may try is sharing treats such as ham or chicken with the three of them once they're beginning to settle a bit as that often causes them to forget swearing at each other for a while. Copper Pipe Split, but its not winter?

We had a strange thing happen. Our copper pipe to our outside faucet has split. The weird part is that it has been working fine, and its now June. How did it split? Someone suggested that it started splitting during the winter, but that it didn't completely split until pressure was applied over and over again during the summer months. Is this possible? Mold is only a concern if an area is repeatedly soaked. If an area of the house gets wet but then has a chance to dry then there will not likely be any mold. However, given that water got under the tiles during showers there may be a mold issue in that area (and there may not be). If water had gotten under the tiles from just your bucket trick then I would not be concerned about damage, but regular showers may have created a problem. A wet and dry shop vac is good for pulling water out of carpets.

There is no leakage under the sink. Water leaks from under the faucet plate and runs out onto the counter top. Is the faucet poorly installed? Do I need to replace the entire faucet or maybe just a gasket?

CATS!!!....upheaval destroyed perfectly good relationships :(((?

I have 3 cats, a 14 year old, 2and a half and 1and a half year old all female. My cats have always got on and have been very loving towards each other until a few weeks ago due to rewiring and getting a new bathroom and kitchen fitted my house was upside down. Tasha my 14 year old has always been a very mothering cat to any kittens we introduced to her despite never having any of her own although she is not spayed she is a house cat, an incident occurred between Tasha and my 2 and a half year old Cleo in my kitchen im not sure what went on but they were both hissing, growling and all bushed up towards each other, Tasha made a run for it into my living-room where Missy the youngest was all stressed out by the sounds coming from the kitchen the results was both Missy and Cleo attacked Tasha it was awful we have never experienced this before poor Tasha wet herself with fright my husband managed to get them separated with his feet, that night we took Tasha into the bedroom with us and separated the other two in different rooms. Since then there has been another inccident but this time between Cleo and Missy but Missy seemed to be the instigator, she is the youngest and is very highly strung and gets traumatised very easily, on the day of the second fight we aloud Tasha and Cleo to come together which was going fine until out of the blue for no apparent reason Missy bushed up and Cleo noticing this reacted accordingly and the fight started this time Tasha managed to get out of the way, once again my husband had to separate them and put them in different rooms, since then we've had another inccident with Cleo going after Tasha but again Missy was the instigator by her behaviour. Today on the advice of a friend we spent �56 on Feliway pheromone deffuser and spray which we have tried, Tasha and Cleo are so mellow but Missy having spent the night in our room came in walking very low to the ground and stepping very cautiously around the room, once she had sniffed the air all over and had a sniff of both cats she has spent the entire day on top of one my kitchen cupboards she hasnt eaten or used her litter box i'm really worried about her and about what we will do if the feliway doesnt resolve this situation it's not fair on her or the other two but it breaks my heart to even consider the possibility that we may have to rehome her, i just cant believe it has come to this after them living in total harmony before. I'd appreciate if you think there is something we are missing or if you have some advice you can give us.

Auto-Toilets scare me!?

I am absolutely serious about this. I don't know why they scare me, but they just do. If I have to go to the bathroom and I tell my mom, and we walk into the bathroom and I see it is an auto-flush toilet then I make up that I don't need to go anymore. They terrify me! Am I alone? I have never had fear of regular toilets but I have always been scared of the auto ones. I am not afraid of automatic faucets or paper towel dispensers, just toilets,so don't tell me its a fear of automatic things! I am asking this because I am going on a road trip in 2 days and most rest stops these days have auto toilets! I need help really because I can't hold in my pee for 15+ hours a day for 12 days! This is not a knife really, the only thing that allows to call it that way is its look and shape. The blade is 3.5 inches long and is neither sharp nor meant to be sharp, i.e. you can't cut anything with it even if you try very hard. Hypocondriac problems. Help?

I am a terrible hypochondriac, and every now and then i fixate on some illness and stress to myself that I have it. Even though I know beyond logical doubt that not only do I not have it, the chances of getting it are insanely miniscule. Today I'm haunted by the human form of mad cow disease. If it's really bad you should see a doctor and they might give you a medicated cream or you could go straight to the pharmacy and see what they recommend but I'm not sure you should be taking antibiotics unless a doctor or someone told you to. Also cocoa butter isn't going to do anything. A medicated cream will make it heal a bit faster so maybe a week or so. However I wouldn't plan on it everyone heals differently and we can't see how bad it is. I also wouldn't be suprised if it scars because they usually do. :)

Hi! I have recently started doing GCSE Graphics and I'm finding it really hard. I had to choose a D.T. and I thought Graphics would be about drawings (cartoons, logos) which I really like to do (I'm really good at Manga). I just nearly puked after eating it. I made a salad with different meats cheeses and egg, I don't normally have blue cheese but it was in the fridge so I added it. I took one bite of my salad and after I swallowed my stomach immediately felt nauseous. I found out that many singaporeans are eating turtles as their dinner and lunch dishes.. most popular eaten turtles are eared eared sliders, soft shelled turtles, and even snake head turtles.. i went to many markets in singapore, and was shocked to find that turtles that are sold for restaurant tables are mostly found in the town side of singapore, like chinatown.. when i got to a market near chinatown, i saw many juvenile or roughly big red eared sliders kept in cages..each cage containing at least 10 to 20 live red eared sliders. the space was seriously cramped. the soft shelled turtles are all stuffed into ann empty pail, all waiting to be sold or killed on the spot. what shocked me most was when i saw the man selling them just use a knife and a sharp metal equipment cutting open the shell of a red eared slider, and digging and slicing the flesh out of a live red eared slider, while it just screeched and groaned in pain... this was consequently done the same to other turtles, frogs and fishes that were sold there.. i just cannot bear to see these people doing things like this just to satisfy their eating needs.. there are so many things they could eat, but why must they purposely breed turtles and other creatures just to kill and eat them? the reason they give is that the population of these creatures are overly populated, so they have to reduce the number of these creatures.. but seriously, they are the ones that breed them out of greed! please give me your views, thanks.

How long can you leave a cat home alone for?

I've left my cat alone for that long before. Like you said, just make sure they have plenty of food and water. Cats are pretty good at taking care of themselves, so as long as they have something to eat and drink they should be fine. If you want, you could always have a friend stop by and check on your cat, but I don't think it's necessary.

I want to learn martial arts for self defense, what should I look for?

First thing I am going to say is... Krav Maga. It's an Israeli form of self defense that is just brutal. It's meant to save your life and if enough experience and the oppurnity is there, easily kill theirs. I'd say an hour class each is plenty. The one year contracts are pretty normal, if that is the only thing they will still offer after asking about a shorter contract, well that's all you can do. The cost ranges all over. my best friend is 12 and I'm 13 and she's started hanging out with these heavy metal people at school. I really don't mind her doing it but they are all like year 11 and stuff.. Ok.. my little brother who will be 12 next month has started this "knife collection" like any knife he sees he has to have it, and he makes crap out of razor blades. I found a knife in my late aunts house. It is a switch blade pocket knife triggered by a button. It doesn't look that old but I could be wrong. When opened at the bottom of the blade it has an engraved mouse or rat. and it says stainless below the mouse. It has a 3" blade and a white grip. Death is a scary concept, and with how bleak the world can be, especially when you hear about other people dying, other families suffering, it can invoke the natural human instinct of self preservation and the preservation of those you care for. If I knew you on a more personal level I could give you a better explanation. But Some people do tend to be more cautious than others. But if you're worried that there's something wrong with you, don't. You're perfectly fine. And having a plan if there's a fire or an intruder is actually a very good thing to do. It's actually encouraged to have a fire escape plan.

Don't worry, I would have the same reaction but later I would research it and find out the idea behind it. I think, in my opinion, that art is a way to express how the person feels. In history, people used art all the time to get their idea across. Its kind of like a code of how to express your feelings and also to send a message. Idk what message the artists were trying to send but for the mirror I think its a great piece of art because whoever looks into it sees themselves. And that's the punch, everyone is a masterpiece with thier own talents, (deep but true). Anyways, I hope this reminds people to think outside the box and to see the bigger picture. Sounds like you missed a gasket or bought the wrong one. If the faucet is off, and you get a trickle, I doubt that it is mechanical particularly since everything seems to be newly replaced. I'd compare the new gasket with the old one really closely (you're sure you put the new one in, right?)

Gas leak through faucet?

I let the water run and i can smell gas coming out with it. It even made me dizzy. I put the carbon monoxide alarm next to it and it went off showing 259. It doesn't smell rotten, it smells like gas from a stove. I just want dome advice in that before I decide to call the firefighters

I think I might have OCD?

I don't want to sound like a hypochondriac, but I thought I might have OCD for a long time now, I'm currently 18, and I have a lot of the symptoms of body tics, (my parents took me to the doctor when i was younger for my tics, and they they mostly occurr when i get really stressed or anxious) compulsive rituals i do to satisfy myself, putting things in certian orders, paranoia about sitting on certian things or touching certian things because they make me uncomfortable, invasive mental thoughts, hoarding of objects because i feel Im going to need them at some point, mild paranoia (feeling of being watched), constant and excessive checking of things like water faucets, forms, writing, as if i dont know whether to trust what my eyes are telling me or something, its hard to explain. But anyway, i am going to talk with a doctor, i just wanted some input from people who might have had this disorder. The big question i had was, I dont do these things all the time. Like it seems to turn on and off with different things. For example i dont put everything in order all the time (my room is a mess) but when i feel the need to put something in order its like i have to do, i just have to, or I don't check the stove constantly because i dont feel i have to, just the one faucet closest to me. So do OCD people carry through with each symptom so it effects everything around them, or might they just do it with certian things at certian times?

When I try to think about it I don't really remember much about my childhood. I didn't have a great childhood. I think I had depression. My sister also told me she was terrified of me when I was a kid. She said I used to chase her with a hammer and I threw a pair of scissors at her and I chased her with a knife once. Why after I like this guy can I not think straight?

I'm trying to go back to feeling how I felt before and I want to be who I was before but for example when I get ready I usually style my hair 1st then my makeup. And right before I do my makeup I wash my face. Well when I'm trying to feel back to normal I do stuff and I thought I was going to get up & out of bed & do my hair & get ready. And another time I was at college and I was getting ready to leave and everything and it was snowing out and I was walking out like I had been already perfect & ready and then I realized I forgot to get my coat out of the closet & so I got it & someone even said "wow what's wrong with you?" and I was thinking the same thing like wtf am I doing???
